005 : Isusovci Opatija

The Jesuits came to Opatija in 1960. It was an agreement with Mr. Mr. Dr. Viktor Burić and Fr. Ivan Kukula, Provincial. They settled next to the big church in the house that they founded and lived in at the beginning, Benedictines from Austria, then Olivetans from Italy, our Croatian Benedictines. As there were few of them, they left this house and went to Ćokovac.

After arriving in Opatija, the priests took over almost all parishes in the area: Matulje, Kastav, Zamet, Veprinac and the chapel in Opatija.

Those who need to come to the Center for Spiritual Help can do so, in the regular procedure, only through the pastor of the parish to which they belong.

When he came to be a chaplain at the parish of St. Jakov Father Ivan Vinkov, who even before that helped people who were in special spiritual needs, began to do so even more in Opatija. Then, under the leadership of the then head, the CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL ASSISTANCE was founded. The center started operating in 2014. A room in the large church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is behind the apse, has been arranged, this area can be reached if you go from the upper side on the NEW ROAD! Other Jesuits are also involved in the work of the center if necessary... The work of the CENTER itself was approved by the Archbishop of Rijeka, Msgr. Ivan Devčić, primarily for the Archdiocese of Rijeka.
